Good afternoon,ladies and gentlemen!It is
my great honor to stand here,giving this speech to all of you.Today,my topic is
university as I see it.
I believe everyone who comes to college
brings a beautiful dream with him.As one year has passed,while looking back,do
you still remember the first dream?
As far as I’m concerned,university develops
two kinds of people,talented people and the residues.There is no doubt that no
one wants to be the last one.Nevertheless,some individuals spend a great deal
of time on the computer games,falling in the love ocean,fleeing away from
classes and chatting on the phone.Each time I see such phenomenon,I just ask
myself why I am here,what I’m looking for,where are we heading…Everything that I’m heading for seems like the illusory
fantasy. But I don’t want to be a person who has high ambition but no real
abilities like a coward and depraves in the university.
My uncle,who wasted four years during his
college life,didn’t get a satisfactory position in society and he can’t even find
the road of life.Then,it occurs to me the six famous words in Bible:to be or
not to be.To be or not to be,to live or not to live,to live richly and
abundantly and eagerly,or to live dully and meanly and scarcely.It is absolutely
up to ourselves.Now that we have entered the university,we ought to make most
of our time.University is not only an enjoyable garden for us to appreciate the
fascinating scenery,but also a mini-society that is full of fierce competition
and needs all kinds of abilities.Thus,it is time we made every effort to
improve various skills.No one can deny that everytime you acquire a new
interest-even more,a new accomplishment-you increase your power of life and
realize the value of your life.I discover now that this place I’m living in is
not my oyster to be opened,but my opportunity to be grasped. Opportunities like
being taught how to get along with people you dislike,or how to hold a party,or
how to deal with a big pile of review within a week.The campus life is just
like a large,empty house which allows you to decorate it with what you obtain
from this mysterious and wonderful place.Each day to me is a precious
entity.The sun comes up and presents me with 24 brand-new,wonderful hours-not
to pass but to fill and I have come to believe that I own life as much as it
owns me,and I suppose that explains the fine satisfaction I get out of
endeavoring to do a job to the best of what I have.
Frequently,I sit back and say to myself:Let
me make note of this moment I’m living right now in university.To live
intensely and richly,merely to exist,that depends on ourselves.
Anyhow,every footprint we leave on
university’s ground witnesses our steps of growth.Everyone I meet,every
experience I get,every building I study in,I feel it,I smell it,I breathe it.This
place is like a cozy cradle,breeding me,raising me and blessing me which I will
cherish for many years to come.At last,only by paying respect to the youth can
we have a bright future.Ladies and gentlemen,let's start our journey of
changing ourselves because university is not a termination but a starting point
of our life.

Today, I want to say something about goals.
Shakespeare said：‘To be or not to be ,this is a question.’ As a youth, since we have chosen to live, I think we should set goals for life. Today, I just want to publish some of my personal points.
First of all, the most important is that we should know the meaning of the goal. I want to remind you that goal is a plan of life, rather than a dream. I used to set lots of goals, but few of them realized. The reason why I gave up those goals is that most of them are unrealistic. So I want to say when you make a goal, you should guarantee the goal can be completed. Otherwise everything would be meaningless. And then make sure, the goal is for the life not just for a short time. Therefore trying to look at the problem with a long term vision is also very important. of course, it doesn’t mean goals must not be changed. You can adjust according to the situation if you think it is more meaningful to realize the value of life.
Second, when you have made a goal, does it mean everything is ok? No, not at all! To achieve this goal is much more important Even if the goal is meaningful. if you don’t achieve, it means nothing. Therefore to be persistent you may as well try you best achieve each of you goals well Even if the goals are just plain, you can sill succeed. Remember, it’s extraordinary if you do every ordinary thing well.
These are all my opinions I hope these suggestions can help you achieve your goals in life and have a better tomorrow.

From the first day of high school, I had to shift from passive to active, must be masters of their own future, we must actively manage their academic and future career, the reason is simple: because there is no more than I care about my own learning and life.
